A list of inputs (#1)
Borrowing csven’s model for trend recognition (a peculiar methodology, but something that’s really stuck in my mind), here’s the list of “inputs” currently circling the recesses of my brain -
1. “Farmadelphia”, a city planning proposal from waaay back in 2007
2. Subtractive Architecture (‘Less is More’), a superstruct from Empiricus (building on the distinction between additive and subtractive architecture … a definition equally applicable to sculpture)
3. An aphorism attributed to Bruce Sterling - “[t]he ruins of the unsustainable are the 21st century’s frontier.”
4. The Society for Creative Breaking of Shit (‘Strategic griefing of the unnaceptable’), a superstruct from the increasingly notable infrarad … particularly its claim that “Michelangelo’s David was not created—-it’s what was left over after the guy with a chisel stopped breaking things off.”
5. Xaosseed’s experiences of kids finding freedom (of sorts) out in the ‘burbs
So, you tell me, what would you mark as missing from this list? And what - if anything - does it mean?
