Outlaw Planet
Was sent a link to the GEAS video by a Spanish media researcher I kept bumping into on last summer’s conference circuit. Apparently, she supervised the PhD of one of the featured GEAS volunteers (javed_puri?) a couple of years back.
It’s really weird to find out that GEAS seized on this particular combination of issues as one of their five superthreats. With the freshers moving in this weekend, it’s probably too late to make any major changes to the course structure, but I’ll have to see whether Mark would be cool with incorporating some of this Outlaw Planet stuff.
Oh, and (as I already tweeted) a couple of faculty members have given their two weeks notice. They seem a bit guarded about their reasons, but I think the whole “23 years left” shtick has really made people look closely at their lives and priorities. As for me, unless things get a lot worse, I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.
