Interesting times

Just left an emergency meeting with management’s upper echelons, attempting to deal with the revelation that a majority of this year’s student intake will be attending remotely - almost doubling the total of students off-site.

I would have thought that August’s ReDS scare would have some effect on enrollment but - even so - I don’t think anyone had anticipated a shift of this scale.

Within the college, there’s a palpable sense of panic over what this means for “the student experience”, site facilities, and empty accomodation.  The VC is looking for some way to patch in some more telepresence feeds and boost our metaverse presence.  Either one of these options would eat our current bandwidth for lunch, and I just can’t see a two-pronged attack running smoothly.

All this, and only a week before orientation.  *takes deep breath*
